Road trip to Sweden

Last Easter, my family and I set off on a memorable road trip to Sweden – and of course, we did it in our electric vehicle. Travelling long distances in an EV turned out to be not just simple, but genuinely enjoyable. Here's a bit about how we made it work.

Planning with Spirii Go

To make sure everything ran smoothly, I used the Spirii Go app to map out charging stations along our route. The app’s filters made it easy to find fast chargers near supermarkets and other places we already planned to stop. I like to plan ahead so I know where we can charge and what’s nearby. One of the best parts? Spirii Go gives you access to charging stations across different networks, thanks to roaming. That means over 600,000 charge points - mostly across Europe - right at your fingertips.

Making the most of charging breaks

On our way to Sweden, we only made one charging stop. We chose a spot with a larger station so we could stretch our legs, grab a coffee, and let our son, Julius, play a bit. It was a great little break for all of us. Planning long-distance EV trips is only getting easier. Charging is faster than ever, and many locations now offer extras like playgrounds, cafés, and shops, so the pause becomes part of the experience.

Next road trip, Italy !

We’re already counting down the days to our next road trip. This summer, we’ll be heading to Italy, with stops in Germany and Austria along the way. I’m especially looking forward to trying out some of the new charging hubs - Circle K and Audi, for example, are really stepping up with well-designed spaces, good food, and even PlayStations to pass the time.

Marcus’ tips & tricks for EV road trips

If you're planning a longer drive in an EV, here are a few things that work well for me:

  • Use your car’s built-in navigation, but also check out Spirii Go to plan in advance and explore extra options.
  • Look for charging stations that offer something more - like food, toilets, or a place for the kids to play.
  • Keep it flexible. With so many charging options, you don’t have to stress - you can just enjoy the journey.

For us, travelling this way is simple, convenient, and a more sustainable way to explore as a family. Ready to hit the road?
