Paua partners with Spirii to launch UK shared depots for commercial fleets

UK-based eMobility Service Provider Paua has initiated a project, allowing businesses to share their private depot chargers with other commercial fleet operators. Spirii is chosen to provide the charge point management system, ensuring efficient management of shared EV charging stations.

In a significant advancement for EV charging infrastructure, UK-based eMobility Service Provider Paua, in collaboration with Oxfordshire County Council, Suffolk County Council, Cenex, and others, has initiated a project allowing businesses to share their private depot charge points with other commercial fleet operators. This initiative is a part of the Transport Decarbonisation Demonstrators programme, funded by the UK's Department for Transport (DfT), aiming to foster a cooperative environment among fleet operators.

The concept of shared depot charging stations, termed Paua PINS (Private Infrastructure Network Solution), has been introduced to tackle the rising demand for accessible and efficient charging options for commercial fleets. Recognizing the need for sharing resources, the Association of Fleet Professionals has highlighted that 62% of fleet operators would consider such cooperative agreements beneficial.

The goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of depot charging sharing across various fleets, thus maximizing the utility of existing infrastructure while promoting sustainability. Both Oxfordshire and Suffolk County Councils are contributing to this project by providing depot locations to share with others.

By integrating shared depot charging locations with the existing Paua public network, businesses are afforded more charging options than ever before. This expansion is anticipated to significantly boost revenue for businesses that opt to share their charging infrastructure.

Spirii plays a crucial role as charge point management system, ensuring efficient management of shared EV charging stations. This includes controlling charger availability, managing user access, and setting pricing.
