Spirii acquired by Edenred, strengthening industry leadership.
Spirii, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging platform solutions, today announces its majority acquisition by Edenred – one of the world's largest providers of B2B mobility and digital payment solutions. The acquisition is set to fast-track electrification and decarbonization in the transportation sector across Europe, the US, and Latin America. At the same time, this new partnership will help strengthen Spirii’s industry leadership as it enters an exciting new phase of global expansion.
Founded in 2019, Spirii was established to enhance global eMobility platform offerings and make EV charging seamless and accessible for all. With an already impressive global partner portfolio, presence in more than 18 markets, and leading offerings within pricing, payment, and energy management services, Spirii has experienced massive growth over the past five years.
Edenred’s acquisition of Spirii unites two pioneering entities with a shared vision for the future of electric mobility. It brings Spirii’s market-leading platform technology, global customer portfolio, and EV charging turn-key solutions together with Edenred’s established world-wide market presence and client base – consisting of more than one million business customers, two million merchants, and 60 million end-users.
It’s a strategic move that marks a pivotal step in Spirii’s growth journey – and one that consolidates the company’s global position in a rapidly growing eMobility market. This will aid Spirii in exploring untapped markets, accelerating its development across Europe, and broadening its geographical footprint to Latin America and the US.
“We’re incredibly proud and happy to become a part of the Edenred family,” says Tore Harritshøj, CEO of Spirii. “This acquisition is proof of our hard efforts and successes and a huge milestone in our continued quest to revolutionize the EV charging industry.
“Together with Edenred, we will fast-track the transition to sustainable transportation,” he adds, “enabling companies and EV drivers to fulfill their electric mobility ambitions. Thanks to the relentless work of our Spirii team, we have become a leading industry player across Europe. Now, with Edenred’s backing, we look forward to further strengthening our products and offerings, empowering our existing partners and users with enhanced capabilities, and accelerating our expansion across market segments and continents.”
Likewise, Edenred will integrate Spirii’s innovative technologies and solutions, instantly unlocking enhanced value to a worldwide customer base already embarking on the electric mobility transition. With this acquisition, Edenred will realize its ambition to become the leading player in electric fleet payment solutions in both Europe and Latin America.
“We’re excited to bolster our offerings as we embark on this new journey alongside Spirii,” states Diane Coliche, Chief Operating Officer for Mobility at Edenred. “This operation expands our reach to a broader network of clients. With this acquisition, Edenred reinforces its commitment to spearheading innovative eMobility solutions and to helping its clients in their electrification transition. We look forward to collaborating with Spirii’s teams to reshape the mobility landscape.”
The two founding partners of Spirii, Tore Harritshøj and Torben Fog, will remain shareholders in Spirii and stay in the management team as CEO and CIO.
